Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has just launched the Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite smartphones. These are the first in a new Redmi Y-series that targets India’s youth. The highlight of the new phones is their 16 megapixel front camera with selfie light. The Redmi Y1 Lite is similar to the Redmi Y1 except that it sports a 5 megapixel camera at the front. It also looks like a revamped Redmi Note 5A.
Redmi Y1, Redmi Y1 Lite Price in India
In India, the Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is priced at Rs. 8,999 for the 32GB storage and 3GB RAM variant. The 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 10,999. The Redmi Y1 Lite only comes in one configuration, i.e., 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, and this is priced at Rs. 6,999. Both smartphones will go on sale via Amazon India, and will be available on Amazon and Mi.com from November 8. The handsets will be available through offline stores as well soon after.
Redmi Y1 specifications
The dual-SIM Xiaomi Redmi Y1’s biggest selling point, as mentioned before, is its 16 megapixel front camera. The device has a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel and will be available in Gold and Dark Grey colour variants.
The Redmi Y1 runs MIUI 9, and features a 5.5-inch HD (720 x 1280 pixels) display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. An octa-core Snapdragon 435 SoC coupled with 3GB/4GB of RAM powers the phone. The battery is a 3080mAh one. The device also features a 13-megapixel camera with PDAF and dual-LED flash.
Redmi Y1 Lite specifications
The Redmi Y1 Lite has a 5.5-inch HD screen and runs MIUI 9 software. Powering the phone is a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. At the rear is a 13 megapixel camera with LED flash and PDAF, while the front has a 5 megapixel sensor. The battery capacity is 3080mAh.
