PV Sindhu has won the silver medal in the BWF World Championship and veteran badminton player Prakash Padukone is all praise for the Hyderabad girl for her amazing performance, calling it the best ever by an Indian sportsperson.
PV Sindhu, the silver-winning Indian shuttler at the recent Olympics gave an amazing performance at the BWF World Championship. She not just earned a silver medal at the event but also earned the praise of Prakash Padukone, veteran Indian shuttler who is considered as a legend of Indian badminton. He said that the performance of PV Sindhu was the best ever by an Indian sportsperson. Padukone who is himself a world championship bronze medalist said that the performance of Sindhu showed her ability to perform with determination even under pressure.
In an e-mail statement, he said that she showed a great amount of determination, grit, stamina and fighting qualities in the nail-biting game. Notably, Sindhu lost to her Japanese opponent Nozomi Okuhara by a mere whisker and gave her a tough fight despite being shown the yellow card. She played her final match with Okuhara where both played three rounds and the score was 19-21, 22-20 and 20-22. Sindhu made a fabulous comeback after losing the first round but Okuhara nailed the third round and won the game.
Also, the game turned out to be pretty tough for the both the players as their fitness level was tested during the match. Prakash Padukone too acknowledged this aspect and said that all the players who are aspiring to be shuttlers should take inspiration from both the players.
The former All England Open champion said that both Sindhu and Okuhara displayed all the qualities of a perfect badminton player. Neither of them gave up till the end of the match which should inspire all the aspiring youngsters to perform like them.
With this win, Sindhu has now in her pocket two silver medals that she earned from the World Championship and the Olympics. Prakash Padukone said that very soon she will even get the gold medal.
