‘Padmavati’ To Clash With Anushka Sharma’s ‘Pari’! Delay In Shooting Postpones Release

The new release date of “Padmavati” has not been confirmed as yet and one would have to wait for an official announcement in this regard.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Padmavati” starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh is very likely to miss its Nov. release date. The interruptions in the shooting have reportedly delayed the release date of the film and it is said that it could hit the theaters next year in Feb. alongside Anushka Sharma starrer “Pari,” resulting in a clash.

“Padmavati” fans would have to wait for some more time to watch the much-awaited film on screen as the Deepika Padukone starrer period drama has been delayed. Sources close to the film say that the Oct. 20 deadline that director Sanjay Leela Bhansali had set is definitely going to be missed. Though a large part of the film has been shot, some important segments are yet to be wrapped up. The ones involving Ranveer Singh as a young Alauddin Khilji and some major action sequences remain unshot.

The makers had planned to devote one month, for the promotion of “Padmavati” before the scheduled Nov. release but that is not happening. The release is bound to get delayed and thus, viewers would have to wait longer to watch the epic drama. It is being said that the makers are planning to release it on Feb. 9, 2018, and if this date is finalized, then “Padmavati” would clash with “Pari.”

Those who do not know, “Pari” starring Anushka Sharma is her third home production film and it is a mysterious love story. Notably, “Padmavati” is also a love story that tells the legendary tale of dictator Alauddin Khilji’s obsessive love for Rani Padmini of Chittor.

As fans may remember, the shooting of “Padmavati” was interrupted on a few occasions due to some political outfits raising objections at the film’s portrayal of history. The sets of the film were destroyed in Jaipur and even Sanjay Leela Bhansali was manhandled.
