The all-new 2017 Maruti Dzire will be officially launched on May 16th. However, dealers have started accepting bookings for the new car already. Based on the Baleno’s ‘HEARTECT’ platform, the 3rd gen Dzire is a complete departure from its previous iterations, carries more equipment, some enhanced luxe factor and will shed almost a quintal of weight in comparison to the outgoing car.
The 2017 Maruti Dzire shares its fascia with the new generation Swift hatchback, which is rumoured to be introduced in India around the festive season or early next year. However, the Dzire carries differentiating elements like a chrome lined grille and highlights around the bumper to justify its sedan credentials. The edgy design of the earlier model has been ditched for a more curved and well-proportioned appearance this time. And unlike the previous model, the boot no longer looks like an afterthought and merges seamlessly with the overall design.
Inside the cabin, there are faux wood highlights, a new steering wheel, new instrumentation and a centre console along with new seats, a smart infotainment system and rear AC vents. New external features on the 2017 Maruti Dzire include a projector setup for the headlamps, LED DRLs, new alloy wheels and keyless entry.
Mechanically though, the 2017 Maruti Dzire will continue to be powered by the trusted 1.3-liter Fiat sourced Multijet diesel engine and a 1.2-liter K-Series petrol motor. Both engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox along with the option of an AMT. The new car could also get a new ZDI+ variant in addition to the existing three trim levels Maruti offered on the outgoing car. On the other hand, the outgoing model has been transformed to fit into the cab friendly ‘Tour’ scheme of things and stripped down models have already reached dealerships. We expect prices to hike up marginally in comparison to the old Swift Dzire.
