The Day As It Unfolds

Massive Sanitization In Progress In Dera Headquarters In Sirsa; Demonetised Notes Found

A massive sanitization process of the Dera Sacha Sauda’s headquarters, in the Sirsa district of Haryana, is in progress.

It was the Punjab and Haryana High Court that gave orders for the search operation and asked A K S Panwar, a retired session judge to submit a detailed report of the huge search operation. According to reports from The Indian Express, 41 paramilitary companies, 1 SWAT team with a dog squad as well as 4 army columns and police from 4 districts have been deployed to conduct the search in the sprawling 700 acres campus. Curfew has also been imposed in areas that surround the Dera headquarters along with posts to check the vehicles.

While conducting the search, the team found demonetized notes valued at Rs 7000 along with “Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s plastic currency,” which was used as a currency medium within the Dera premises.  Additionally, cash, hard disks, as well as computers, were recovered from the Dera headquarters by the investigating officer.

Except for voice calls, SMS services, dongle internet services as well as mobile internet services has also been suspended. Earlier today, human remains were also unearthed in the Dera premises. Locals living in the surrounding Dera ashram are said to revere the Dera chief as God.

Notably, the Dera chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was arrested last month in a double rape case and immediately after a special CBI court gave out the verdict, large scale violence erupted in Panchkula, Sirsa and also parts of Punjab, which led to the death of 35 people.

In previous reports, it was also reported that the violence and vandalism that followed was preplanned by Honeypreet, Surender Dhiman, and Aditya. It was also reported that 5 crores was pumped in planning the violence and even compensation was announced in case of loss of life.
