Honeypreet Insan, who was hiding after Ram Rahim Singh’s conviction, has been arrested by the police just a few hours after she came out of hiding to give an interview to a TV channel.
Honeypreet Insan has been arrested by the police hours after she made an appearance on a TV channel, ending her over a month-long hiding. According to NDTV, the adopted daughter of the self-styled godman Ram Rahim Singh was arrested nearby the Chandigarh highway and another woman who was accompanying her was also nabbed.
In her interview, she tried to explain that she was innocent and she never uttered a word to instigate the crowd and therefore, the charges slapped by the police against her in connection with inciting violence were baseless. Notably, Honeypreet Insan has been on the run for over a month after Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the chief of Dera Sacha Sauda, was arrested and pronounced guilty in two rape cases.
A lookout notice and an arrest warrant were issued against her by the Haryana Police soon after but she managed to stay underground all these days. Now, she has come out in the open and said that she was depressed by the allegations filed against her. According to reports from Economic Times, Honeypreet Insan, in an interview, claimed that her father was innocent and that she would take legal advice and also move the Punjab and Haryana High Court to prove her innocence. She expressed complete faith in the judiciary saying that justice will be done in the case.
She gave her interview inside a car and her location was also not disclosed to anyone. Honeypreet further said that all she was doing was fulfilling her duty as a daughter when her father was in need. She stated that she went to the CBI court in Panchkula with a hope that her father will be declared innocent but was shocked when the judge pronounced Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh guilty of raping two of his female followers.
