Property belonging to the fugitive don, Dawood Ibrahim, has been seized in the United Kingdom.
According to reports from The Indian Express, property belonging to the fugitive don, Dawood Ibrahim in the United Kingdom has been seized. The frozen assets include properties in Midlands, a Warwickshire hotel and also residential properties in Midlands. Moreover, reportedly, he also holds properties in Essex, central London, and Dartford. Reports further suggest that the properties seized are worth seven billion dollars approximately.
Notably, his name appeared in the “Consolidated List of Financial Sanctions Targets” from the UK Treasury Department. The list from the treasury also lists the addresses of Dawood Ibrahim in Pakistan, as recorded. Moreover, it also includes a list of 21 pseudonyms used by him.
With the pseudonyms listed, the United Kingdom prohibits the transfer of funds to any person, whose name is listed in the sanction. Notably, investigators from India visited the Midlands, back in 2015 to identify properties that belonged to Dawood Ibrahim.
The Enforcement Directorate officials state that a large amount of Dawood Ibrahim’s money is invested in places like Dubai, the United Kingdom, as well as, India.
It must be mentioned here that Dawood Ibrahim is a noted criminal who ranks tops in the list of most wanted don in India. This is due to his role in the devastating Mumbai 1993 blasts. While in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, Union minister VK Singh was heard telling reporters, “We will not talk about Dawood at all. Certain things are happening. We can’t let the cat be let out of the bag.”
The UN reports suggest that he is also associated with the terrorist organization, Al Qaeda. Dawood Ibrahim has also been declared to be a global terrorist by the United States Treasury Department in the year 2013.
