‘Baahubali 2’ Beats Rajinikanth’s ‘Enthiran’ Record; Revives Sagging Fortunes Of Tamil Film Trade
“Baahubali 2” has been breaking and making new records from its release day and now it has beaten Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s “Enthiran” record at the Tamil box office while also giving new life to the lackluster Tamil film trade that has been making losses for some time.
Prabhas starrer “Baahubali 2” is now the highest grossing Tamil film of all time, a record it made in just 18 days by beating Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s “Enthiran” record. “Baahubali 2” has surpassed the collections of “Enthiran,” a Shankar film that released in 2010 and earned around 110 crore. In fact, it was a few days back that “Baahubali 2” became the second film to earn 100 crore at the Tamil box office.
Now, it has beaten the 100 crore mark and if trade analysts are to be believed, “Baahubali 2” will easily reach the 150 crore figure in the days to come. This is really a notable achievement for the movie and one more shining feather in its already-glowing cap. As fans know, “Baahubali 2” has set new records at Bollywood, Kannada, and Telugu box office by becoming the highest-grosser of all time.
However, for Tamil film industry, it has come as a savior. According to Indian Express, “Baahubali 2” has given film distributors and exhibitors a new lease of hope as the film has brought them profits after a long time. It has released at a time when Tamil films have been proving to be unprofitable for the exhibitors and distributors.
They have incurred huge losses from some big films starring big names. In fact, the release of “Baahubali 2” was also under clouds owing to these losses but things were resolved and now the film has given unexpected returns to the distributors. It remains to be seen what new records it sets in the coming days.
